The Consistency Report – Volume 27 [New Year’s Edition]
Your Monday dose of fitness, mindset, and lifestyle takeaways to keep you dialed in.
December 31st. The last day of 2025.
I’ve been trying to relax a bit over the last couple of weeks. I took a short break from the podcast, newsletter, and social media before ramping things back up for the start of the year.
That said, I wanted to send you a special New Year’s Edition of The Consistency Report. Don’t worry, we’ll be back to our regular Monday schedule next week.
The new year is upon us, and I have a lot of big plans for 2026.
For the first time in a long time, I can genuinely say I’m excited about what the next year will bring—both professionally and personally.
But the calendar flipping to a new year isn’t magic.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
A new year doesn’t create momentum. Your actions do. New year, new you only works if it’s backed by structure, habits, and follow-through.
So instead of riding high on motivation, this is the time to double down on consistency. The boring stuff. The repeatable stuff. The things that actually move the needle when no one’s watching.
That’s what this newsletter is about.
Here’s what I’ve got for you this week.

What Is Your Goal for 2026?
Alright, you know the drill. It’s January, and everyone is making New Year’s resolutions.
I’m not against them. I’m big on goals and goal setting.
But this year, I want you to approach your fitness goals a little differently.
Yes, you should still have specific targets—numbers on the bar, bodyweight goals, races, events, timelines. Those matter.
But I also want you to define a theme for your fitness in 2026.
One sentence. Big picture. Simple enough that you can run every decision through it.
For example, my 2026 fitness goal is to be strong, lean, and athletic year-round.
Every training block, conditioning session, and nutrition decision gets filtered through that lens. If it helps me move closer to that goal, it stays. If it doesn’t, it’s out.
Your takeaway: Write down one sentence that defines what you want your fitness to look like this year. Not what you want to do,but who you want to be.
Then ask yourself this question weekly: Does my training and nutrition reflect that identity?
If the answer is yes most of the time, you’re winning and on the right track.

The Success Log
One tool I need to get better at using consistently is Jason Selk’s Success Log.
It’s simple, quick, and extremely effective.
At the end of the day, answer these questions:
What three things did you do well today?
What is one thing to improve in the next 24 hours?
What is one action step you can take to make that improvement?
On a scale of 1–10, how well did you execute your three most important tasks today?
That’s it.
If you want a deeper dive, I covered this and more in a podcast earlier this year with Jason Selk:
What I’m Into
Blood Work
Getting blood work done every six months is one of the best things you can do for long-term health and performance.
To keep it simple, I do mine twice a year, in January and July.
I run a full panel that assesses hormones, prostate health, thyroid function, blood glucose, liver and kidney markers, vitamin deficiencies, and more.
The company I use is Blokes. They make the whole process straightforward and easy to interpret.
If you’ve been putting this off, consider making it a non-negotiable for 2026.

This Week’s Podcast
How to Reach Your Goals in 2026 | EP 540
In this episode, Derek and I look back at what worked (and what didn’t) in 2025 and map out how to approach 2026 with more intention.
If you’re in planning mode right now, this one will help you get clear.
Final Thought
The people who win the year aren’t the ones who go hardest in January.
They’re the ones who are still showing up in March… June… October… when the excitement wears off.
Keep it simple. Keep it repeatable. Stay consistent.
See you next week.
