The Consistency Report – Volume 1
Your Friday dose of fitness, mindset, and lifestyle takeaways to help you stay consistent and show up strong — every damn week.
Hey! I'm trying something new. I've been debating what to do with this newsletter for the past year. I don't want it to just be a place where I blast out links to content on other platforms. Yes, there will be some of that, but I want to deliver some substance right to your inbox.
So, here is Volume 1 of The Consistency Report.
Each week, I'll share the small things that help me stay consistent. No fluff. No optimization rabbit holes. It's just real stuff that's working — in training, mindset, and life.
Here's what hit this week.
Fitness
Earlier this week, I had to do an at-home upper body workout using only the equipment in my office. For reference, I have a doorway pull-up bar (side note: does anyone know my role in promoting these? It's kind of funny, lol), a set of 20-pound dumbbells, and a 50-pound kettlebell.
Here is what I came up with.
1a. Pull-up: 10 sets x 10 reps
1b. Push-up: 10 sets x 25 reps
2a. Kettlebell Row: 3 sets x 20 reps
2b. Handstand Push-up: 3 sets x 10 reps
3a. Dumbbell Curls: 5 sets x 20 reps
3b. Band Pressdown: 5 sets x 40 reps
I finished in about 45 minutes. That pull-up/push-up superset is brutal. Honestly, some variation of that is probably all you need.
Mindset
I've been consistently journaling lately. The system I use is called the Success Log. It's the brainchild of sport psychologist Jason Selk, who I had on the podcast this week.
I've done a Success Log on and off for the past couple of years, but I always feel better when I'm consistent with it.
At night, I write down:
- 3 things I did well during the day.
- 1 thing I want to improve tomorrow.
- 1 action step to make that happen.
It forces me to focus on progress — even when the day feels messy.
Now, I have to start incorporating the Mental Workout. To find out what that is, listen to the episode!
What I've Been Into
🎥 Dale Earnhardt Doc — I watched the documentary about Dale Earnhardt this week. Here is something you might not know about me. When I was a kid, I loved NASCAR. Watching the doc brought back memories from the late 90s. I was never an Earnhardt guy, but the dude was intense.
The older I get, the more I respect people who are super passionate about something. It could be because it helps me relate to them. It could also be that passion is so rare. I heard a quote one time that always stuck with me, "don't try to fake passion because when you meet someone truly passionate, they will embarrass you."
The doc is great. I recommend it. Spoiler alert: it's a little emotional at the end.
BRB, I have to find a black #3 shirt.
📖 Cam Hanes – Undeniable: How to Reach the Top and Stay There
I finished Cam Hanes' new book, Undeniable, this week. It's part memoir, part mindset manual — and worth the read. In it, Cam delves into what makes high performers tick, drawing lessons from guests he's had on the podcast, such as David Goggins, Andrew Huberman, Courtney Dauwalter, and my buddy Nick Bare.
Each chapter breaks down a key theme. What's interesting is that being undeniable is often not about talent but about effort—simply showing up and outworking others. It's raw, honest, and motivating. If you need a push to stay on your path or dial it in tighter, check it out.
This Week's Absolute Strength Episodes
Just two podcasts this week.
• How to Train Hard When You Don't Feel Like It
Why motivation is unreliable — and how to build an environment that makes training automatic.
• Train Your Mind for Peak Performance with Dr. Jason Selk
We discuss the success log, mental workouts, confidence, and how to develop a relentless solution focus.
Final Thought
Let me know if you like the new format! Have a great weekend.
